How to enter the Glasgow Local Mòd

Step 1

Choose (with your child!) the competitions they’d like to enter. They can enter as many competitions as they like, but preparing for the Mòd takes a fair bit of practice, so don’t overdo it!

A list of all the competitions and rules for each competition are on the following pages:

  • Solo, Trad and Duet Singing
  • Poetry
  • Storytelling
  • Solo Instruments
  • Choirs
  • Bands and Groups.

**Important** Enter competitions (except bands and fiddle groups) based on your child's school year or age on 1 October 2025 (the time of the Royal National Mòd). So, for example:

  • p1 in June 2025, enter p2 song / poem
  • p7 in June 2025, enter age 11-12 secondary song / poem
  • age 12 in June 2025 but age 13 by 1 October, enter age 13-15 competition.

This doesn't apply to bands and fiddle groups - see the Bands and Groups page.

Step 2

Enter via this link: Ticket Tailor. We can only accept entries via this online system. Remember your audience tickets (see Step 3 below).

The deadline for entries is 11.30pm on Friday 16 May 2025 - we’re sorry but we can’t accept late entries.

The cost per competition is £4, to help us cover the costs of the event.

Note: entering the Glasgow Local Mòd does not enter your child into the Royal National Mòd - this must be done separately via An Comunn Gàidhealach website.

Step 3

Parents / guardians / relatives who want to attend should buy a £4 audience ticket via this link: Ticket Tailor.

There are separate audience tickets for Friday and Saturday.

Friday audience tickets: tickets for the choirs and bands event are limited to 2 per child competing - we’re really sorry to have to limit these but it is due to hall capacity and the number of children involved.

Saturday morning audience tickets: there is no limit on the number of tickets you can buy for Saturday, for the individual competitions (solo singing, poetry, storytelling, solo instruments).

Step 4

Find your song / poem / story / tune.

Information and rules on what you can sing / play etc are on the Competitions pages, along with links for helpful audio files for songs and poems.

Step 5

Get practising and we look forward to seeing you!
